We are looking for a Payroll Assistant to join us at our headquarters in Wisconsin.
General Summary: You will work as part of a team which performs payroll tasks for the Electric Power and Mechanical Division.
You will be responsible for payroll entry, employee setup, employee profile maintenance, monthly union reporting, general payroll duties and providing excellent customer service to our employees.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a detail-oriented environment with the ability to work as a member of a team, follow directions, and exercise good judgment.
Being a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, as well as strong organization and communication skills are required to successfully handle this position.
Principal Accountabilities: Assist with weekly payroll entry, reviewing, and processing.
Process weekly adjusting payrolls as needed (miscellaneous payments related to missed time, retroactive increases, etc.
).
Utilize COINS (Construction Industry Solutions) accounting software.
Responsible for setting up new hires and updating re-hires in COINS.
Manage employee profile maintenance (address updates, federal & state withholding taxes, direct deposit, skill level changes).
Correspond via email and telephone with employees regarding payroll issues.
Process wage garnishments.
Process and submit monthly union reporting.
Track sick time for states with mandatory requirements.
Assist with year-end responsibilities (W2 mailings, union life insurance salary updates, audits, IRS testing).
Meet daily, weekly, and monthly time-sensitive deadlines.
Provide and assist with reporting and data requests associated with internal/external auditors.
Willingness to accept and complete other projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
Equivalent work experience in a related field also accepted.
Two years of accounting or business experience is preferred.
Union payroll experience preferred but not required.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.
Ability to provide excellent service to our employees via verbal and written communication.
Ability and desire to work on a team with the common goal of paying our employees accurately and on time.
Excellent data entry skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work independently.

Description of physical working environment: Normal office environment.
Routinely works from a sitting position with a computer.
Repetitive typing and computer use required.
Regular bending, twisting, and light lifting is common.
