2023* *Director of Finance* Madison, WI *Overview:* WholeTrees Structures seeks an experienced Director of Finance with advanced accounting skills within the manufacturing and construction industry; exceptional communication, organization, and technology skills; and a strong attention to detail.
This position serves the diverse needs of a cutting-edge structural round timber manufacturing company.
This position manages the day-to-day accounting functions as well as on-going strategy; works closely with the VP of Operations, the CEO, senior Project Management, Sales, and Production staff; manages relationships with vendors and clients to ensure the seamless delivery of WholeTrees products to commercial construction projects.
Applicants should have 5+ years of experience as a departmental finance leader and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
The candidate must possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively as an integral team member within a dynamic design and fabrication environment.
*Overarching activities will include performance, and eventual management of:* − All accounting operations including Banking, A/R, A/P, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition − Month-end and year-end close processes including the issuance of financial statements − Payroll and assist with internal HR/benefits alongside the third-party payroll provider − Accounting and financial issues and suggest timely solutions − Management of and compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings − Assistance to the CEO and VP of Operations with budgeting and forecasting − Support for the WholeTrees Sales team with Contract Administration as Quotes flow through an established sales process into billing − Management of the capitalization table with assistance from CEO and legal team − Coordination of weekly and monthly finance needs with CEO, VP of Operations and Design & Production leadership − Development of and adherence to policies and procedures − Assessment of available financing opportunities, including cashflow strategy, debt financing, and possible investment − *Position may include:* − Assisting the CEO and VP of Operations with additional tasks and strategic conversations as they arise − Grant-related administration and reporting − − Office Managerial tasks *Specific daily activities may include:* − Communicate with staff, vendors, and customers through email, phone, and/ or video calls − Review of WholeTrees contracts guiding a systematic process from signed quotes to billing and job reporting − Tracking project costs through Budget vs Actual reporting and communication with CEO, VP of Operations, and Project Management Dept − Oversee the A/P and Bank/CC procedures performed by third-party bookkeepers − Weekly team meetings, in-person and/or remote, where projects and financial topics are addressed in systematic ways.
*Required skills:* − Experience successfully leading teams with compassion, humor and accountability − Strong organizational and multitasking skills with demonstrated success in multidisciplinary teams − Self-motivated, self-directed and an exceptional attention to detail − A preference for fast-paced and diverse workdays where new information and changing circumstances are received with creativity, efficiency and patience − Excellent oral and written communication skills − A track record of above-average emotional intelligence and capacity to communicate needs and boundaries while coaching others to do the same − Experience interfacing with fabrication and manufacturing − Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and procedures − Excellent clerical skills − Critical thinker and problem-solving skills − Quickbooks Desktop − Microsoft Office and Google Workspace − Zoom and/or Google Meets *Compensation & Management:* Salary will be commensurate with experience.
