Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Department of Anesthesiology Finance Associate Director, the Accountant I will undertake general accounting duties in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
This includes preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of the business unit's financial transactions.
Responsibilities: Performs general accounting duties following generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
Prepares financial reports and assists with budgeting.
Ensures the accurate recording and reporting of the business unit's financial transactions.
10% Organizes, prepares, and updates basic financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions 10% Prepares and analyzes financial data, reports and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements basic solutions as needed 15% Assists with accounting and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reports 10% Answers questions and provides accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures 10% Assists in preparing budgets and financial projections 25% Prepares and/or approves financial transactions and payments 10% Support Department Operational Services, with building maintenance requests, maintain and order office supplies, faculty lab coat and business card orders, departmental shipping assistance 10% Departmental Property Administrator, tag and track all Capital Assets, oversee disposition of obsolete/broken capital items, maintain Capital Equipment Asset Inventory, perform necessary regulatory audits Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.

- 2+ Years of Financial Accounting Experience - Experience interpreting and analyzing financial data.
- Demonstrated computer expertise with a variety of software programs.
Preferred: - Experience working with financial budgets, accounts, and reports.
- Experience using financial software such as ShopUW+, WISPER, WISER and Oracle EPBCS Work Type: Full Time: 100% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $47,850 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Additional Information: The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment.
