Description
The Residential Property Accountant plays a critical role in managing financial operations for The Alexander Company’s residential properties.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
This position includes overseeing weekly financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and collaborating closely with operations to maintain and enhance fiscal integrity.
Responsibilities
Cut checks weekly
Verify cash balances
If negative cash balance, responsible for engaging asset manager to prioritize before checks are cut
Provide weekly cash report to management
Work closely with property management to ensure financial accuracy on a daily basis
Producing residential financial statements
Bank reconciliations
Maintaining workpapers for each property
Compare to budget for large discrepancies or missed timing
Create monthly cash flow statement
In charge of ensuring property management has approved expense codes before financials are finalized
Distribute financial statements for management review
Review and input budgets into accounting software
Paying mortgages
Includes funding reserve and insurance and tax escrows
Calculate and enter management fees for properties
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
Associate or bachelor degree with 1-3 years professional experience in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
Familiarity with basic accounting/financial vocabulary
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
