Responsibilities:
Act as lead financial recordkeeping/accounting staff person for organization
Liaison with contract CPA firm; and provide data for its report production
Liaison with the audit firm and ensure an accurate audit; and enable and implement audit and management letter suggestions as appropriate.
Maintain dialogue with and keep the Executive Director informed of financial condition factors, activities, and significant issues that may arise.
Make all organizational payments and deposits ensuring compliance with applicable policies, including but not limited to:
* The provision of all payroll and payroll-related responsibilities.
* The accurate completion of vouchers and the receipt of authorized signatures.
* The writing and distribution of all checks with applicable documentation.
* Coordinate year-end and periodic reporting and audit preparation.
Responsible for timely completion of program reports and invoicing as required by funders.
Maintain Loan database servicing and supervise delinquencies and agency collections programs
Manages loan payoffs, subordinations, and client file management.
Manages insurance compliance program for NHS properties.
Maintain a secure environment for payments through use of cash box, locked safe and regular deposits.
Other duties as needed assigned by the NHS Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and concepts.
- Experience with account reconciliation, debits, credits, and general ledger maintenance.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks or similar accounting software.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Possess strong working knowledge of housing related financial an program activities including lending and construction/development finances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Perform as a team player.
