POSITION OVERVIEW
The Chemical Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of production equipment in their assigned production area used to produce microencapsulated products in a safe and efficient manner.
The role utilizes both automated and manual systems to add raw materials, initiate and monitor the process to transform the raw materials into finished product.
Several actions require manual operator actions that include obtaining samples for testing, manual material additions, and documentation of critical process steps.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Safe handling of equipment and materials understanding the hazards and proper utilization of PPE
Maintain on time production schedule by coordinating daily activities
Accurate and timely in completion of tasks and documentation
Effective communication with team members and management
Work overtime to cover vacancies/vacations and meet Customer requirements, including weekends
Promote teamwork by assisting other where and when needed
Train new or less experienced team members
Cross train to other processes and positions for business continuity and flexibility
Operate equipment in accordance with SOP’s
Observe, adjust, and monitor equipment to ensure safety, quality, and efficient operation
Complete manual operations as required by the process
Document process critical data timely and accurately
Issue materials and complete orders in Deacom
Maintain 5S standards
Participate in continuous improvement efforts
Perform basic care, housekeeping and maintenance of equipment and work area
Communicate operational needs within team and with management
Attend all plant meetings and complete all trainings on time
Carry out additional duties as assigned
Ability to occasionally push, pull and carry up to 60 pounds
Ability to wear a respirator as required by the task being performed or chemical safety data sheets.
Work safely around and appropriately handle hazardous chemicals around plant.
QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
Experience with Microsoft software applications helpful.
Keyboarding proficiency and general computer knowledge/experience preferred
