The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is accountable for effectiveness at the strategic, tactical and ‘hands on’ levels of our business.
The EHS Manager is integral in driving our vision of zero EHS incidents by ensuring alignment with and supporting out EHS Stance, mission, and guiding principles.
The EHS Manager is responsible for implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of EHS programs/systems for our Madison and Deforest locations.
The successful candidate provides leadership and guidance to engage employees at all levels of the organization to achieve and sustain world-class safety and environmental processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and systems at the site level.
Coach and mentor leadership in EHS techniques and leadership skills.
Partner with site leadership team to identify and address EHS issues related to site operations, site design and equipment installation/commissioning.
Recommend, implement, and maintain solutions to support continuous improvement in risk management.
Lead EHS training strategy and coordinate training to meet training requirements.
Establish and maintain the use of EHS compliance management systems.
Manage site incident reporting, analysis and Return to Work program.
Assess sites for adherence to Franklin Electric EHS policies and programs.
Drive corrective action process, if necessary, in partnership with site leadership.
Administer and maintain permit requirements as required for air, water, and waste program compliance.
Maintain site SDS software system for chemical approval process, proper chemical labeling, and environmental reporting compliance.
Coordinate or perform a variety of EHS activities to maintain compliance with various regulatory authorities (OSHA, EPA, DOT, LEPC, AHJ, WDNR, Tier II reporting) Establish and accomplish aggressive personal and site EHS goals.
Understand, implement, report, and monitor EHS measurables/metrics.
Maintain constructive relationship with internal and external customers.
Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Position Qualifications Skills and Abilities: Experience with implementing and maintaining effective EHS systems and programs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to lead and influence others.
Ability to research, draft, train, and maintain effective EHS procedures and policies.
Demonstrated results leading others in the accomplishment of EHS objectives.
Ability to work independently.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in related field such as Occupational Safety, Industrial Management, Engineering, Business (required).
Five or more years of related experience (required).
Master's degree in a relevant field could substitute for years of experience.
RCRA, DOT Shipper, HazMat, or HAZWOPER certifications (required).
Professional Certifications highly desired (CSP, CIH, CHMM, OHST).
Computer Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, EHS Compliance Management System Software, SDS Management Software and Learning Management Systems.
Physical Activities: While performing the functions of this job, the employee is: Continually required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
Regularly required to sit or stand and to walk.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
