Description Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, performs a variety of duties including, but not limited to building, maintaining, and repairing various cutting tools, fixtures, gauging and assisting in equipment repair as needed.
Key Responsibilities · Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per Franklin Fueling Systems.
· Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to Supervisor.
· Maintains a clean and organized work environment to facilitate manufacturing functions.
· Meets daily work schedule as assigned.
· Participates in improvement events and recommends improvements to existing processes.
· Responsible for the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of conventional and computer numerically controlled machines such as, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, grinders, and otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
· Responsible for smoothing and polishing flat and/or contoured surfaces of tools and parts using various machines including, but not limited to scrapers, abrasive stones, files and/or power grinders.
· Responsible for conducting test runs with completed tools and making adjustments as necessary to meet specifications.
· Responsible for ensuring tools are in proper working conditions before storage.
· Utilizes various machines to create the required part as determined.
· Reads and follows blueprints and/or sketches to create or modify tools.
· Supports the manufacturing process by assisting in repair of equipment.
· Follow detailed assembly machining instructions, processes, and procedures.
Correctly operate all required inspection equipment and record findings as required.
Perform daily maintenance and continuous improvement on machines · Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise Skills and Abilities • Ability to effectively communicate with and motivate all production floor employees.
• Works with various hand and power tools.
• Understanding of CNC machining centers such as, lathes and mills.
• Ability to generate a simple CNC programs for multi axis lathes and mills.
• Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Utilizes common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
• Provides accurate work on a consistent basis meeting precise tolerances and standards.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team.
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.
• Ability to work alone effectively under stress and in situations dangerous to self or others.
• Understanding and operation of precision measuring equipment including , but not limited to calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore mics, optical comparator.
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints and reading programs.
• Ability to make offsets.
• Ability to understand G and M codes, and CNC programs.
• Strong personal skills to work with others in training and trouble shooting.

• Ability to edit programing and change inserts on perishable tooling.
• Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.
Education and Experience • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
• 6 months of experience working in a tool and die specialist type position (required).
May substitute education for experience.
Computer Skills • Basic computer knowledge (required).
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is: o Continually required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 lbs.

• The employee must continually lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
• Must be able to lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates and worktables using hoists, vises, v-blocks or angle plates.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include regular peripheral viewing; viewing length changes; close viewing with depth perception; and occasional distance viewing.
• Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the need to perceive the spoken voice clearly and the need to hear warning signals up to 70dbs with or without assistance.
• Specific speech abilities regularly required by this job include comprehensible speech.
