The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), is hiring a Painter.
This position will be based / headquartered out of one of the following counties and will serve the entire Area 6, ten-county area: Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Rock, Walworth, Washington.
The selected location that the incumbent will be based out of is depended upon applicant preference and space availability.

Position Summary This Painter position performs as a Journeyman Craftsman Painter and works under the general supervision of the Buildings/Grounds Superintendent for Area 6.
The Painter is a lead worker to other maintenance staff over painting projects and is considered the technical expert for all paint related issues.
The position will complete routine annual painting as well as larger scale painting projects on interior and exterior surfaces.
The position will evaluate the scope of work and develop material, equipment, and time estimates.
The Painter will perform other duties as assigned, and may be required to accomplish painting projects at DMA facilities statewide on an occasional basis.
Salary Information Starting pay will be between $42.
11 and $43.
50 per hour, depending upon the leave time option that the incumbent selects.
A twelve-month probationary period is required.
This position is represented by the Wisconsin State Building Trades bargaining unit (04-00).
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details This position has the following conditions of employment: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must have no limitations on working in high areas.
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to JFHQ in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program.
Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
Qualifications To be qualified for this recruitment you must meet at least one of the following: Completion of an apprenticeship approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a painter.
OR Formal recognition of Painter status by the appropriate international or local trade organization or some type of similar formal validation of journeyman status may also be accepted.
Persons having informal training and experience equivalent to the formal apprenticeship and journeyman status may also be accepted upon submission of documented proof of such training and experience.
OR Evidence of at least 6,240 hours total of exterior and interior preparation and finish, paper hanging, decorating, spraying/rigging and care/use of tools and equipment including related instruction and safety procedures.
