*Position Summary * The Community Engagement Specialist (Full-Time or Part-Time) is responsible for developing and executing recruitment strategies to increase participation in Girl Scouts by increasing girl members, adult volunteer members, and community partnerships.
Specialists will schedule and host recruitment events and network with community organizations, corporations, schools, faith-based institutions, and other community constituents.
Success will be achieved through community cultivation, lead generation, and rigorous follow-up after events and presentations.
The ideal candidate is comfortable with public speaking, highly personable, well-organized, and capable of learning new technology.
The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in people and relationships.
A fun, persuasive, and educational approach to delivering content is required to communicate the Girl Scout mission and goals to the community.
*Locations: Madison, Janesville, or La Crosse* *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* · Increase girl membership and volunteer leads by implementing strategies outlined in the Council’s strategic plan.
· Research market data, membership trends, and other geographically relevant information.
· Maintain accurate records and data.
· Seek opportunities and cultivate relationships with community organizations including corporations, schools, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of and participation in Girl Scouting.
· Attend volunteer fairs and other volunteer-oriented events as assigned.
· Ensure Girl Scouts welcomes all girls and adults by embodying the Girl Scout way of diversity and inclusiveness.
· Conduct timely follow-up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
· Promote and assist with Council-wide programs, activities, public relations, and fund development endeavors.
· Deliver recruitment events and activities during the times when community members and potential members are available; this includes evenings and weekends and travel throughout the Council region.
*Education or Experience * · Associate or bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or sales, recreation, nonprofit management, volunteer management, social work, or related field.
Other combinations of education and relevant experience, that demonstrate the ability to perform the position's duties, will be considered.
· 1+ year of experience in recruitment, sales and marketing, community relations, recreation, youth programming, education, or other relevant areas preferred · Bilingual preferred, but not required.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience working with cloud-based platforms, and Salesforce preferred.
· High capacity to master and leverage data tracking platforms.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented with a bias towards execution and action.
· Outstanding project management skills and operates with an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset.
· Skilled relationship builder with a demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate effectively across every level of the organization.
· A proactive team player willing to pitch in at all levels while also holding a big-picture, systems-thinking mindset.
· Exceptional written and verbal communicator.
· Strong work ethic with a high degree of curiosity and a learning orientation; someone who leads and operates with a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.
· Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming and be committed to the Girl Scout mission.
Prior Girl Scout experience is not required.
*Other Requirements* · Must be able to occasionally work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
· Anticipated time away from the office is 25%.
· Possess a valid driver’s License and proof of insurance.
· Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site.
*Physical Requirements* The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee must be able to withstand: · Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Operate office equipment manually.
· Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
