NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Wisconsin is a statewide nonprofit organization that provides support to 25 local affiliates throughout the state.
The mission of NAMI Wisconsin is to improve the quality of life of those affected by mental illness and their families and to promote recovery through education, support, and advocacy.
We currently have an annual budget of approximately $1,500,000 with nine full-time staff, three part-time staff, and an 18-member Board of Directors.
We are seeking an Outreach and Development Director who will work with our team to build relationships in the community and create partnerships to support our mission.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Communication and Events Director and be responsible for community outreach, maintaining connections, collaborating with donors, stakeholders, corporations, local affiliates as well as support the planning of fund development strategies and activities of the organization.
NAMI Wisconsin receives funding through grants, memberships, individual donations, and corporate partnerships.
The Outreach and Development Director will work closely with the Communications and Events Director, Executive Director, Associate Director, and Board of Directors to support NAMI Wisconsin and increase funding for our mission.
*Responsibilities:* _Fundraising Activity:_ * Research and execute fundraising activities including a broad diversity of revenue sources * Create, follow up, and track proposals for corporate, foundation and government support * Research and apply for community, government and corporate grants * Collaborate with the Communication and Events Director to establish and maintain an annual fundraising strategy and develop a planned giving program * Establish and expand a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish sustainable working relationships * Collaborate with the Associate Director to establish corporate matching fund program * Research and establish individual stock, trust and will giving programs * Actively seek opportunities to present our story and raise awareness of NAMI and reduce stigma of mental health challenges * Participate in exhibiting and public speaking at conference and other outreach events * Update and maintain donor database in collaboration with NAMI WI staff * Ensure timely and appropriate donor recognition and connections * Establish relationships with corporations through education and awareness in the form of resources, presentations, collaboration, and sponsorships through NAMI Wisconsin's Workplace Wellness Initiative _Annual Conference, NAMI Walks and Events:_ * Secure sponsors and exhibitors for events, work with Communications & Events Director to track event revenue and deliverables.
* Collaborate with Communications and Events Director in planning of conference, walk and other fundraising events and report on funds to Board of Directors _Grant Management_ * Develop skills to write and apply for state, federal, and corporate grants * Research state, community, private and corporate grant opportunities * Write and create grant and budget request in collaboration with Executive Director * Track grant cycles and ensure deliverables and requirements are met and reported *Preferred qualifications:* * 2+ years experience in fund development * 2+ years experience working for a not-for-profit * Grant writing experience * Public speaking experience *Minimum qualifications:* * Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit administration, business administration, communication finance, or a similar field * Experience or willingness to learn skills in the areas of fundraising, grant writing, sponsorship solicitation * Enjoy working in a team environment and working in a non-profit atmosphere * Compassion to learn about issues facing individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness and their families in the state of Wisconsin * Strong leadership, time management, and organization skills * Strong communication skills including ability to write articles, speak persuasively about issues that affect NAMI members, and public speaking.
* Strong interpersonal skills with ability to connect with funders, donors, and grantors * Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and CRM databases * Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to travel * Must live in Madison, Wisconsin area, have a valid driver’s license and transportation This position is full time, 40 hours a week.
Annual salary is $50,000 - $56,000.
NAMI Wisconsin offers full benefits, including health, life insurance and optional dental, vision, and pet insurance.
New hire benefits include 13 days PTO, and an additional 10 paid holidays, 12 days sick leave, flexible work schedule and matching 401K contribution after 3-month employment.
If preferred qualifications are not met, Outreach & Partnership Coordinator position may be considered.
Within 18-month experience and training, NAMI Wisconsin encourages promotion of title and salary to reflect positive work evaluation and experience to director of position.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $50,000.
