Are you bilingual in Spanish/English and have experience working in a communications, public relations, marketing, or a similar role? The Bilingual Community Engagement Specialist at UNIDOS will work closely with UNIDOS’ Executive Director and Associate Director to raise awareness about UNIDOS’ work through effective and meaningful communication strategies and work to build relationships between the organization and the broader community.
UNIDOS is a non-profit organization that exists to empower the Latinx/Migrant community to break the cycle of domestic violence, end sexual assault, and promote healthy family systems through a client driven wellness and recovery model that is strength based, culturally relevant, trauma informed, consumer driven, and outcome based.
*Essential Job Duties* * Develop and manage a strategic plan and calendar with the Executive Director to help guide communication and engagement strategies, projects, and events.
* Create content for, and manage, regular communications through the organization’s website, social media channels, quarterly newsletters, email, phone calls and press releases.
* Build relationships with the community, institutions, and organizations; maintain and elevate existing relationships.
* Plan, schedule, and coordinate UNIDOS’ ongoing participation in community/civic events and initiatives (tabling at fairs/community events, media opportunities, partnerships, etc.
).
* Host regular meetings to develop partnerships and build rapport internally and externally.
* Manage volunteer recruitment and retention by serving as the main point of contact and working closely with staff to fill needs, coordinate intake and orientation, track participation, and communicate appreciation.
* Monitor community engagement needs and activities through data and analytics, contribute to reports, and participate in the development of program evaluation projects.
* Develop and implement targeted community engagement activities such as surveys, focus groups, and public forums.
* Communicate and liaise with other departments for consistency of UNIDOS brand.
* Assist the Executive Director with fundraising campaigns, events, and educational training for staff.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* * Must be bilingual in Spanish and English - written and verbal.
* Associate or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field (relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
* At least two years of experience working in a communications, public relations, marketing, or similar role.
* Must have proficient computer, software and editing skills - Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Canva, Mailchimp or other similar systems.
* Proficiency with using social media platforms, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
* General knowledge of sexual assault and domestic violence in Latinx communities.
* Must have strong communication skills to include and the ability to adapt communication style to fit the situation and audience.
* Must have excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to manage tight deadlines and quick shifts in priorities.
* Ability to operate in an open, honest, and forthright manner in order to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population in a variety of professional and community settings.
* Ability to work both independently without close supervision and as part of a team.
* Ability to conduct presentations to different size audiences.
* Must possess a valid Driver’s license, proof of insurance and be willing to travel within the state and within their designated area of coverage.
* Must be able to work evening hours and weekends occasionally.
*Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* * Volunteer management experience.
* Experience supporting victims/survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
* Knowledge about cultural and trauma-informed practices; immigration issues faced by the Latinx population, crisis intervention, safety planning, and needs assessments.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $43,000.
00 - $47,000.
