Position Title: Head Boys’ Swim Coach
Department: East High School Athletics Department
Reports to: East High School Athletic Director

Purpose of Position: Seeking a high quality and engaging Head Swim Coach to create and provide leadership in building a high-performing swim program.
Candidates must be able to positively motivate student-athletes to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
Successful candidates will possess a passion to work with/educate student-athletes, have a sincere interest in young people, and demonstrate a willingness to become an active contributor to the school culture, as well as be willing to work to establish a youth program to partner with the high school program.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise the swim program coaching staff including Assistant Coaches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee training of swimmers in all positions in conjunction with the other coaches.
Develop training plans for swimmers in conjunction with the other coaches.
Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home meets as directed by the Athletic Director.
Direct meet line-up planning for other coaches.
Attend and coach at all practices.
Attend and coach at all meets.
Monitor team members’ school and practice attendance, meet participation, and academic performance (grades)
Enforce team policies.
Provide student-athletes with feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior, and team skills.
Manage program budget and organize fundraising efforts for the swim program
Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Athletic Director.
Coordinate off-season training and conditioning for the swim program
Successful completion of the required WIAA Rules Exam for swim by the 2024 winter sports season.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of instructional techniques for competitive swimming.

Current certification in CPR/AED from a national certifying organization or must obtain within one month of employment.
If no teaching license, successful completion of an approved coach’s education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching .
Demonstrated ability to successfully coach in a diverse population.
Ability to initiate and maintain open communication with staff, student athletes, and parents.
Competitive experience in swimming at the high school level.
Previous coaching experience with preference for those with prior swim coach experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to design and implement, a developmentally appropriate program for students in swimming.
Evidence of knowledge of WIAA eligibility standards and willingness to reinforce good sportsmanship and compliance with athletic codes from members of the East Swim team.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise athletic teams with respect to schedules, equipment, student eligibility, and safety.
Preferred: Valid teaching license
Preferred: College playing/coaching experience
Preferred: Demonstrated ability to successfully implement swimming systems in a high school setting
Length of Work:
WIAA 2024 Winter Sports Season
Working Conditions:
Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.
