Assistant Swim Instructor
MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider.
We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting.
Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50+ fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools.
Program Description:
MSCR offers swim instruction to participants of all ages, infants through adults, following the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim standards.
Job Description & Duties:
Assisting in the teaching of Red Cross Learn-to-Swim programs.
Taking direction from the lead instructor to engage with swimmers.
Learning how to lesson plan and co-teach and eventually lead teach, if desired by employee.
Start Date: 1/21/2024
Work Location: East High School, West High School, La Follette High School, Memorial High School, Lapham Elementary School.
Hours/week: Up to 18.
5 hours per week.
Work hours: Nights and weekends available.
Application Deadline: Open until filled.
Payrate: 15.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able (or willing to learn) to swim 25 yards of all six strokes to a Level 4 standard
Must be comfortable in deep water (up to 12 feet)
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous swim lesson experience or other experience working with youth.
