Madison Ballet is seeking an energetic, experienced classical Ballet Instructor for the School of Madison Ballet.
The Ballet Instructor is a key member of the School of Madison Ballet faculty, supporting the organization’s mission by providing high-quality dance education to students ranging in age from children to adults.
In this front-facing role, our ideal candidate will thrive on establishing relationships with their students, helping them achieve their individual goals through supportive coaching and mentoring.
Established in 2005, the School of Madison Ballet (SMB) offers classes for dancers in ballet technique, with additional instruction in complementary disciplines (pointe, pas de deux, conditioning, men’s class, creative movement, etc).
The SMB curriculum is rooted in the classical technique, with intermediate to advanced students learning a variety of classical and contemporary ballet styles to ensure they are prepared for a career in professional dance.
Classes are held at the Company’s state-of-the-art studios on Madison’s west side, as well as the new Madison Youth Arts center on the city’s near east side.
Position Title: School of Madison Ballet Instructor Status: Part-time; nonexempt Reports to: School of Madison Ballet Principal Rate: $32-45/hour, based on experience Primary Responsibilities Teach 2-20 hours/week in the School of Madison Ballet Attend professional development/team meetings (2-4 per year) Write individual evaluations for each student (2 times per year) Ongoing communications with School of Madison Ballet Director and faculty peers to ensure consistency of instruction and commitment to School of Madison Ballet curriculum and policies Qualifications Knowledge and understanding of classical ballet and classical ballet repertoire Deep commitment to teaching and student growth Demonstrated ability to create an environment of both discipline and encouragement for students; strong classroom management skills Excellent organizational skills; ability to follow SMB administrative protocols (e.
