Job Summary:
The Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Chemistry runs the day-to-day operations of a large and vibrant education program, involving ~12,000 annual student enrollments and 250 undergraduate majors.
A successful candidate will be part of a team-based program that values community, learning, and collaboration.
Under the direction of the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Education and in collaboration with Department of Chemistry faculty and staff, the Undergraduate Program Director is responsible for academic and instructional planning, oversight of undergraduate chemistry student services and office operations, leadership of instructional staff, and program assessment efforts.
The Director also serves on related committees and represents the Department of Chemistry with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities: Provides leadership and managerial responsibility for one or more academic program(s), ensuring alignment with the university mission.
Directs administrative oversight and academic curriculum development, ensuring optimal integration of student and faculty activities.
Ensures resource allocation supports the program's primary objectives.
Manages a team of professionals who support the program(s).
20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.

PhD in Chemistry or closely related field is preferred.
Qualifications: Required: - Two or more years of post-degree experience working in a higher education environment - Minimum of two years of experience managing people and/or programs - The ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders - Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Preferred: - Three or more years of experience managing people and/or programs - Proficiency with data driven decision making Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $90,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The minimum starting salary for this position is $90,000.
Actual starting salary is determined at hire and is based on experience and qualifications.
