Job Summary:
The Teaching Faculty position in EPS is intended for lecturers and higher education instructors who have extensive experience teaching Education Policy courses, or experience researching the complexities of Education Policy topics with evidence of a history of translating that expertise into excellent instruction.
Teaching faculty are non-tenure track instructional positions who will primarily teach and work to improve undergraduate instruction in a variety of ways.
Class sizes are typically in the 30-200 student range, with courses over 50 usually receiving appropriate Teaching Assistant support.
Serves as instructor of record.
This position will teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Educational Policy Studies.
The following courses are a priority: EDPOL 210: Youth Education, and Society EDPOL 240: Comparative Education EDPOL 320: Climate Change, Sustainability, and Education EDPOL 412 History of American Education Other courses may include: EDPOL 140: Introduction to Education EDPOL 200: Race, Ethnicity, and Inequality in American Education EDPOL 202: Careers in Education EDPOL 205: Language and Social Inequality EDPOL 212: Education for Social Justice EDPOL 220: Human Rights and Education EDPOL 237: Wealth, Poverty, and Inequality in Education EDPOL 260: Introduction to International Education Development EDPOL 300: School and Society EDPOL 335: Globalization and Education Responsibilities: Provides classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning.
Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading.
Serves as an instructor of record.
5% Works with faculty to identify and develop new methods of advancing instruction in the discipline 5% Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements 5% Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy and may train other staff in use of these techniques 65% Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading 15% Supervises the day-to-day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed 5% May make presentations to faculty and to staff members on instructional programs and techniques Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.

Education: Required PhD PhD in Educational Policy Studies or related field.
Qualifications: -At least 3 years teaching educational policy-related courses; additional teaching experience at University of Wisconsin-Madison preferred.

-Evidence of excellence in teaching and student mentoring in higher education, demonstrated through experience as an instructor and/or teaching assistant over a sustained period of time (equivalent to 2 semesters), or equivalent experiences.
-The ability to teach various EPS courses including, but not limited to, seminar, lecture, and discussion courses at undergraduate and graduate level.
-Ability to work effectively and compassionately with a diverse student population to support their learning and personal/professional career development.
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present and represent the department effectively to various audiences in inclusive ways.
-Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
Work Type: Full or Part Time: 25% - 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $51,061 ACADEMIC (9 months) Depending on Qualifications Additional Information: This is a fixed-term renewable appointment that can range from 25% to 100% Full-Time Employment.
