The SoN's Office of Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (HEDI) seeks an individual to support programming, resource development, partnership and relationship development, and organizational contributions that will equip the school to advance inclusive excellence.
This commitment extends beyond the immediate academic community, encompassing faculty, staff, and students, as well as external communities of interest, including alumni, the broader campus community, and valuable community partners.
The HEDI Specialist will work closely with the Associate Dean for Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in planning and delivering programs and initiatives that are responsive to identified gaps and opportunities.
These programs and priorities reflect the strategic direction of the HEDI office and will rely on school wide collaboration.

In doing so, this individual will help to create a future nursing workforce that is prepared to build health equity through nursing science, education, practice, and policy.
Responsibilities: Programs, consults, advises, trains and/or analyzes operations as a diversity and inclusion functional subject matter expert to foster a supportive institutional culture.
30% Participates in the development, implementation, and execution of projects, programs, and committees to promote diversity and inclusion initiatives 10% Recommends strategies for addressing complex issues regarding diversity regulations, best practices, and policy interpretation 10% Directs the implementation and adherence to diversity policies and practices in a designated functional area, audits effectiveness, and makes recommendations for improvement 30% Develops and delivers events and workshops to institutional groups to promote diversity and inclusion initiatives 10% Works collaboratively with campus partners to strengthen programming across schools and colleges.
5% Offers assistance and delivers capacity-building resources for faculty, students, and staff.
5% Other related duties, as assigned Tasks: Provide assistance for faculty, staff, and students by helping to develop/implement strategic initiatives that promote the SoN and the mission for diversity, equity, and inclusion at UW-Madison.
Review policies, procedures, and programs and provide recommendations that support a diverse, inclusive, and belonging community for faculty, staff, and students.
Facilitate networking and collaborative opportunities for faculty, staff, and students around the areas of HEDI and belonging.
Assist the Associate Dean for Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in designing, updating, and implementing the SoN's Inclusive Excellence Plan in collaboration with the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee.
Assist in designing and implementing professional development, education, training, and coaching programs on diversity-related topics for faculty, staff, and students to build capacity and skills related to inclusive excellence.
Serve on the planning team for events that support diverse populations in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students and community leaders.
Work with the marketing and communications team to strengthen the HEDI website, ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion is embedded in communications channels.
Partner with other health sciences school diversity specialists across campus to facilitate the interchange of ideas and best practices, including the current lunch and learn series.
Identify and support community outreach efforts for the SoN to partner on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within Dane County and throughout the State of Wisconsin.
Identify, build, and maintain relationships and collaborative opportunities with internal and external stakeholders to enhance school and campus partnerships in alignment with strategic initiatives.
Serves as a member on selected SoN governance committees.
