Job Summary:
The Department of Pathobiological Sciences (PBS) in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor tenure-track faculty position in the field of Host-Pathogen Interactions.
A preference will be given for individuals at the assistant or early-stage associate level.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent, extramurally funded, nationally recognized research program.
We broadly seek candidates with a research focus on host-pathogen interactions and infectious diseases of importance to animal and human health.
Competitive candidates would offer innovative approaches or models to advance the study of host-pathogen systems with an emphasis on bacteriology, parasitology, prion biology, virology, or immunology at any relevant scale, from molecules to populations.
Minimum requirements include a PhD in biological sciences or closely related field and at least 2 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
In addition to developing a strong extramurally funded research program, the successful candidate is expected to make significant contributions to departmental and campus professional, undergraduate, and/or graduate teaching programs and to mentor graduate students.
Participation in departmental and university service and commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment are expected.

The Department of Pathobiological Sciences is one of four departments within the School of Veterinary Medicine and consists of faculty members with expertise in infectious diseases (immunology, parasitology, bacteriology, virology, vector biology, epidemiology, and public health) and comparative pathology (anatomical and clinical).
Faculty within the Department and School train graduate students in the Comparative Biomedical Sciences Training Program and other campus graduate programs.
They also serve as trainers on a variety of NIH training grants administered through the School and other units on campus.
Further, the new faculty member will have access to affiliated research and diagnostic facilities including the School of Medicine and Public Health, Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, Influenza Research Institute, Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-borne Disease, Global Health Institute, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, USGS National Wildlife Health Center, Wisconsin National Primate Research Center, and Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
