Job Summary: The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional Clinical Geneticist to lead our Division of Genetics and Metabolism, as the Division Chief.
We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through scholarly contributions.
This position will provide clinical care, teaching, and provision of scholarly activities is expected on the CHS track.
The UW Department of Pediatrics is a vibrant academic department comprising over 200 faculty in seventeen subspecialty divisions.
The Department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting edge research and vigorous advocacy.
Our clinics are staffed by board-certified medical geneticists who are members of the Department of Pediatrics faculty.
Our team consists of physicians, genetic counselors, dietitians, nurses, and fellows.
Members of the division direct accredited training programs in genetic counseling, medical genetics, biochemical genetics, clinical cytogenetics, and molecular genetics.
The University of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics continues to be a leader among pediatric departments in federal research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR).
The recently released 2021 rankings lists the Department of Pediatrics as No.
7 in the nation with $37.
5 million in funding from the NIH.
The department has continued to rise in national rankings of research dollars, up from No.
31 in 2012, and it has ranked in the top 13 for five years straight.

Responsibilities: Provide clinical care to patients in general genetics as well as biochemical genetics.
Clinical service will encompass outpatient clinics (including outreach work) and inpatient attending (as well as occasional inpatient consultations both at the American Family Children's Hospital and our two community hospitals).
For appointments hired on Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track: * For those appointed to the CHS title track, academic responsibilities will include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Academic duties and responsibilities beyond baseline faculty expectations will depend on individual interests and expertise.

Education: Required Terminal Degree MD, DO, or equivalent is required Qualifications: * Completion of an ACGME-approved medical genetics and genomics categorical, combined genetics/ pediatrics or other combined genetics/primary care specialty and/or pediatric residency program is required.
* Completion of an accredited Medical Biochemical Genetics fellowship is preferred, but not required.
* Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.
Candidates must possess clinical and academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank at the CHS Track that have been previously established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.
Appointment as Associate Professor or full Professor will require that candidate's credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.
License/certification: * Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical licensure.
* Board certification or board eligibility in Medical Genetics & Genomics through the American Board of Medical Genetics & Genomics and Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics is required.
* Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.
Work Type: Full or Part Time: 50% - 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This vacancy is being offered on two different tracks: CHS or CT, which allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider clinical teacher faculty candidates with or without research credentials for this non-tenure-track position.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.
The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
