_DPI Certified 4K Teacher_ This role is a full time, in-person, DPI Certified 4K Teacher position at Bernie's Place, Wisconsin Union Childcare Center.
Located on the edge of the Eagle Heights Woods near Lake Mendota, Bernie's Place is a small and long standing, licensed and accredited, non-profit childcare program serving the families and students connected with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Our license allows us to care for up to 54 children aged six weeks to six years old, Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 5:45pm.
Our building has a spacious elevator and stairs to navigate our two stories plus a basement.
As a 4K Teacher at Bernie's you would work with one other 4K Teacher to provide a 4K curriculum to a classroom room of students Monday-Friday during the school day.
This position works seven hours per day with children and has 1 hour per day away from children for break and other tasks.

Bernie's offers a vegetarian, mostly local and organic breakfast and lunch menu for both students and staff.
We are currently offering a sign on bonus, as well.
The yearly pay for this position is in the range of 38k-45k, depending upon education and experience.

com* Skills and Knowledge Required: * Must meet State of WI requirements as 4K DPI Certified Teacher * 4 Year Degree in Elementary Education or related 4 Year Degree required * Ongoing professional development in the field of child development required * Must be CPR/First Aid Certified * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Demonstrate organizational abilities * Ability to build rapport with families and community members * Must meet physical requirements of the job including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds Key Responsibilities: * Work as a team member to meet the social, physical, and emotional needs of children and the classroom environments at Bernie’s where we support cultural differences and varied family structures * Coordinate with fellow teachers to create, plan and evolve Bernie’s curriculum through engaging, play-based, weekly lesson plans emphasizing natural materials; adapting to moment-to-moment teaching opportunities as they arise * Practice positive child-guidance techniques * Assist with the orientation, training and evaluation of substitute teachers through any necessary collaborations with the Director * Support researchers and volunteers to understand and acclimate to the culture of classrooms at Bernie’s * Commit to contributions towards Bernie’s community through parent-teacher collaborative projects, discussions, work projects, fundraisers, and communications to our parent Board of Directors * Report holistic developmental progress of children with fellow teachers to parents through bi-annual reports and through parent-teacher conferences and informal daily check-ins * Maintain daily open and honest communication with parents and fellow teachers via personal interactions, emails, and daily report sheets * Attend in-service, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities to enrich Bernie’s understanding of best practices in early childhood education * Facilitate Transfer plans for children aging out classrooms in collaboration with fellow Bernie’s teachers and the Director as needed.
