*Position: *Teens of Promise *(*TOPS) College Success Coach *Starting Salary: *Range of $42,000-$46,000 commensurate with experience.
*Reports to:* Director of Education This coaching position is responsible for building relationships with AVID/TOPS high school graduates who are transitioning to, currently enrolled at partnership colleges and universities.
This person will be responsible for a student caseload.
The College Success Coach will help students focus on their success from their transition into their first year, through completion.
This position ensures that students are connected to the individual resources needed that will increase their persistence in obtaining a post-secondary degree.
Working collaboratively with student services staff and being familiar with campus services and processes unique to each of these institutions is key in this role.
*Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):* * Provide coaching, mentoring, and support through continued contact and meetings with TOPS Scholars to encourage continued enrollment, address personal and academic barriers, and prepare for college completion * Conduct programming initiatives around key dates to support enrollment, retention, and graduation, including college enrollment, class registration, textbook purchases, paying tuition, scholarships, finals, and FAFSA completion * Work in partnership with the College Enrollment Coach to identify, support, and build relationships with graduating high school seniors that plan to/are enrolled in the institutions you support * Collaborate with campus partners to recruit TOPS Scholars into college-specific support programs (Milwaukee Scholars, Scholars of Promise, etc.
) * Collaborate with appropriate campus departments and student services to establish partnerships that will enhance the academic, social, emotional and personal development and success of students * Coordinate with campus staff and students to organize and promote helpful on-campus academic and social programming * Connect members to campus resources such as academic advising, transfer advising, financial aid, transfer advising, financial aid, tutoring, clubs and organizations, and preparation for graduate/professional school * Track and collect students' data, including but not limited to enrollment rate, major, financial gaps, challenges faced, and campus engagement, and utilize monthly data reports to refine programming * Use innovative methods and media to connect with disengaged and unenrolled students to share additional methods of support available * Collaborate with College Success team to plan and implement signature program events including Summer Transition Conference, Winter Reunion, and Enroll in College Day * Support curriculum design & implementation of summer career & leadership programming for youth & young adults *Additional Responsibilities* * Required to participate in special programs and/or events including annual Youth of the Year, Hearts for Helping, College Decision Day, Summer Transition Conference, Move4BGC, Thanksgiving meal, and more * Occasional weekend and evening work as needed * Assume vacancies as needed * Other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic priorities of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County *Qualifications:* * Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, social sciences, or related field preferred * A minimum of 2 years experience working in a non-profit organization, high school, school district, post-secondary institution * 2 years direct service experience with youth and young adults at the high school or college-age, preferable in a non-profit or educational setting * Experience building relationships with students and staff of all ages from diverse ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds * Experience collaborating with and/or across multiple teams, or working in a community partnership model * Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently * Ability to build positive working relationships with BGCDC staff, board members, volunteers, members, partners, and stakeholders * Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and Zoom * Preference to those with experience in equity initiatives or college readiness programs (such as AVID/TOPS, PEOPLE, ITA, College Possible, Posse, etc.
) * Demonstrated ability to build rapport with students * Knowledge of youth development frameworks and understanding of the systems and structures that produce inequities that our program seeks to eliminate * Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and/or weekend hours as needed * Reliable vehicle needed along with valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance Required Hours: The regular hours for this full-time exempt position are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Monday – Friday.
Holiday, weekend and evening hours will be required as project deadlines dictate.
Must be able to travel to off-site Clubs, meetings and events.
*WORK LOCATION*: This position works at the Boys and Girls Club Administrative Office location with frequent travel to partnership colleges and occasionally to the four Madison public high schools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Physical abilities required include bending at the waist and reaching above the shoulder to maintain files, speaking and hearing to exchange information, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, and other office equipment.
The candidate will be exposed to extended periods of time walking and standing.
Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.
