Position Summary This position provides statewide leadership and coordination to research, develop, and revise education and training programs to meet identified needs for all levels of integrated law enforcement, jail, and secure juvenile detention instruction.
The focus of this position is to facilitate the conversion of current Law Enforcement, Jail, and Secure Juvenile detention academy curricula into a virtual online format.
This will be accomplished through effective use of advisory groups; definition of valid instructional goals; curriculum development and documentation; preparation of instructional materials; support of student assessment and evaluation; and up-to-date reporting to the Law Enforcement Standards Board.
The work is performed independently with the potential to work remotely from home.
Salary Information The Education Consultant position is in pay schedule 13 and pay range 02.
The starting pay will be between $39.
49 - $44.
23/hr.
Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details This is a Project Position: Based on current funding, this project position is expected to end September 13, 2025.
As a project employee, you will continue to receive all rights and privileges afforded to original probationary employees by state law, with the exception of tenure, transfer, reinstatement and layoff benefits.
This position will be eligible to work remotely, reporting to the headquarters in Madison occasionally, including reporting on multiple consecutive workdays if needed.
Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement.
Travel Requirements: Occasional in-state travel will be required.
Must be eligible to drive when required for travel.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment.
All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
A background check, including fingerprints, will be completed on applicants prior to selection.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will have education, training, or experience in the following : Current certification with the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board or equivalent in another state to instruct law enforcement topics at the recruit academy level.
Experience developing, delivering and/or converting educational material to a virtual online platform.
Experience developing resources and materials for delivery of training in a variety of alternativ e modalities, including technology-based media such as online or web-based instruction.
